Who am I?
Hello, I'm Donna and I’m so glad you’re here. For me, counselling is more than just addressing mental health concerns—it’s about being a supportive presence during life's various challenges, whether you’re dealing with relationship issues, work stress, tough life events, or behavioural struggles. Think of me as a compassionate listener who’s here to offer support without judgment. I’m experienced in talking through a wide range of topics, no matter how sensitive or personal, and I’m committed to understanding and meeting the unique needs of our community. One of my special areas of focus is grief, loss, and bereavement. As a counsellor who has personally navigated significant change, grief, and loss, I have an understanding of the profound impact these challenges can have on our hearts and minds and I am passionate about supporting others through these difficult times. While we all face grief in different ways, we are united in that it can often feel isolating and hard to navigate. In addition to my work here at Doves Counselling, I also volunteer at Hilda’s House within Ipswich Hospice, providing support to our local community during their times of loss. My approach to counselling is simple: “one step at a time, one day at a time.” It would be a privilege to accompany you on your journey and work together towards the outcomes you’re seeking.
Donna the person
I’m a proud mum of two lively boys and happily married to a wonderful husband. I’m passionate about reading and learning, and I often dream of combining both with some time at the beach—my ultimate idea of relaxation! Our weekends are usually packed with the kids' activities and catching up with family and friends. And for holidays, you’ll often find us off on a camping adventure, unplugged and enjoying the great outdoors. I truly believe in the importance of stepping away from the hustle and being present in the moment. I'm also a realist - sometimes balancing work, family, and personal time can be a challenge! What about you? What brings you joy and peace? How do you make time for the things that fill your cup?
